Judge cannot do it. AG needs to step up and do his job. In addition, just about anyone can refer a lawyer to Bar Counsel (or what ever its equivalent is called in NY, I am in MD) for violated Rules of Professional Conduct. Get them disbarred.
Great idea, in theory. In reality, most if not all such organizations are run by the lawyers themselves. And in the rare event that a complaint results in action, it is often little more than a reprimand. No, I think Dylan is on the right path here. The "no one is above the law approach would get the fastest and most wide-spread results. Maybe, if these rough shod practices were stopped, banks might actually find is is easier to work with homeowners to stay in their homes.
