The Real Debt Deal
July 18, 2011"So that goes back to a much bigger issue which is we have a whole host of contracts, that were entered into during better times that unfortunately have to be rewritten." - Mohamed El-Erian, CEO of PIMCO, a trillion do

Excellent article. The people of the nation have lost the handle on our society. Big business tells us why, when and how we consume. Equities and debt was once used to grow businesses, now equity is used to create wealth for a few people and debt is used to stave off insolvency just long enough.
Ratigan, Tom Coburn's numbers and Pataki's facelift are all BULLS**T!
COBURN 9 TRILL PLAN TAKES ONE THIRD FROM SENIORS, AND ONE HALF OF SENIORS ARE UNDER THE POVERTY LINE TODAY,
HOW CAN U PUT THAT CRAP ON YOUR PROGRAM
I was surprised to see Dyan agree with him.
Thank you for a wonderful program today. You are the best source of information and dealing with the most important issues of our time. I am so grateful you are in this important position.
Well Done
Everyone has forgotten these politicians elected in 2010 got in office because they promised to get America back to work. Instead we lose more jobs every day while the idiots in Washington only want to destroy this country for their own satisfaction and getting rid of Obama. After all, those of us still paying taxes pay for their salary, healthcare, pensions and other benefits so they have nothing to lose. As they get rid of food safety programs, the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts we'll be back to the Cuyuhoga River burning and people dying from bad food. I hope their own families suffer as much as the rest of us. They are TRAITORS!!!!!!!
Great stuff Dylan. Find a way to get more mainstream awareness of your writings!!
Ratigan you are truly the only media personality who recognizes not only the fundamental causes of our latest economic crisis, but also the absurdity of current ‘debate’ around it. Interviews with titans of the financial SERVICES industry like Mr. El-Erian keep me informed with real knowledge and for that I am grateful. Keep fighting the good fight.
Remember back to January 2009, when Americans were angry at multi-million dollar payouts to Wall Street types? What did the Republicans and the Wall Streeters claim? We HAVE to pay those bonuses, because it was a contractual obligation, and once a contract is broken, America would perish. Now the contract is with common folk, not Wall Street execs, and suddenly breaking contracts is what makes America great.
The real DISCUSSION we need in this nation is what kind of nation do we want to be. Altho I am a progressive (in most areas), I understand the classic conservative (not the regressive, uber-corporate conserviative) philosophy even tho I disagree with it. But, we need to decide if we want a government that is large enough to protect people and provide the necessary services. And, if the more fortunate need to pay taxes for this or if it is "survival of the fittest" and everyone for themselves.
