Are the troops being kept there for the opportunity to war with Iran? The GOP has been itching for that chance. Sarah Palin was trying to sell President Obama on the idea that war with Iran would be good for our economy. I wish people wouldn't forget about that. Jobs here, not wars there.
WWII may have created jobs here but that was 70 years ago, when we had American factories with American workers. The current wars have made money for government contractors overseas. If there was such a thing as true accountability we would know how much Bush, Cheney, and all profited from those wars and their domestic energy task force.
Security contractors work for money; they are not United States military. Do they answer to the Commander in Chief? Here's an example of an American defense contractor using his free market skills by stealing ammo and then selling it back to our troops. What a patriot. Who else did he sell to in Iraq? What will these security contractors do if we end the wars? They'll go work for another country that needs them. Fox Business news says we will pay for these contractors to retire, at get this, 50 years of age! If you want the troops to come home, be prepared to object to the US getting into a war with Iran.
