Jobs Wanted: A Special Report on Trade, Taxes and Banking
August 8, 2011Job numbers continue to be weakening in America, while politicians continue to talk about jobs without identifying the root cause of why we don’t have them in the first place. How can you solve a problem when you can’t identify the origin of it? How can any country create jobs when the flow of money is leaving by the trillions, not arriving?
Once you understand that investment flowing into a nation is a prerequisite for job creation, you can start to understand why this country is at a loss. The primary mechanisms this country needs to address to reverse the flow of money out and accelerate the flow of money in: trade, taxes, and banking.

Dylan Ratigan, I am a big fan. You have the goods and the story. Stay on it! I watch your show all the time. Best on MSNBC.
As long as the Federal Reserve exists we will not see any job creation. How can anyone find a job that has been sent overseas or banks that keep hoarding all the money from the last two bailouts. Then you have these idiots in Washington that come on your show and are pissed off about the downgrading of our credit which is should be labeled as junk anyways. Keep up the good fight
Would love to see Dylan talk about immigration and how an increase in pace of immigration we allow could solve some of the problems we have with housing inventory, wages, tax base, etc. America is still a place that people want to be, so let’s let some of them in and kick the economy into gear with increased demand.
I think they should just allow immigrants work lawfully and PAY taxes. There are too many of them getting paid in cash and not reporting.
I know a 70 year old who said if his social security failed that he was going to get a fake gun and rob a fake bank! He said he knows the money will be fake, so he wanted to know if you have any suggestions?
To create new jobs you propose a bill that bundles tax reform and infrastructure. Then close the tax entitlements ( AKA loopholes ) and use them to start on our infrastructure. Then add a rider that for the first few years all materials must be american then not only do you have good paying construction jobs there will also be more steel beams, sewer lines, concrete, nuts and bolts and everything in between then and only then will the economy begin to recouver.
You need to get Mark Cuban on to talk about the bad patent system in the US and how it's going to get worse if Obama signs the bad patent bill going through Congress. Less patents mean more innovation.
TechDirt's Take on Patent Reform that Limits Jobs
Interesting ! Thanks for the link. My state Senator Coons is a step son of the GORE CORP. and huge stock holder in that billion dollar multi-national. It seemed to me that a lot of his activity down in DC, like the support of this patent 'reform' had a lot to do with his enriching his pocket through the corporate relationships.
Mark Cuban has jumped into the discussion highlighting how the patent system is a significant cost of doing business for all of his companies, and he'd be able to hire a lot more people if all of his companies weren't getting slammed with bogus patent infringement lawsuits.
Mark Cuban – Every technology company I have is getting hit by patent lawsuits that are the biggest bunch of bullshit ever. Every week it seems like a new one comes up. Between having to pay our lawyers a lot of money to review each, to increasing insurance rates and settlement costs because we can’t afford to pay to fight the nonsense, it’s an enormous expense. So much so that money that would have gone to new hires to improve and sell the product has to be saved to pay to deal with this bullshit.
I’m not talking about a new company that had an idea that someone beat us to. No sir. I’m talking about companies that have been doing business the same way for years that are getting hit by patent trolls. These aren’t operating companies that are trying to protect their business. These are companies that aggregate patents and raise capital for the sole purpose of suing companies and extorting money from them.
This is happening to every company in America (I work for a Financial Services firm) and we are getting them regularly. They originate in a small part of Eastern Texas where a particular court looks very favorable on these types of cases (probably brings in a ton of money for them). They have no basis except to extract money out of companies (my boss calls it legalize extortion). It has to stop!
Sounds like something that will take a long time to investigate & successfully prosecute. So little justice for victims of high level crimes ! Never have so many suffered so much by the decisions of so few.The latest poll shows 80% disapproval of Congress & 85% disapproval of the Supreme Court's decision to allow a corporation "person" ulimited & undisclosed donations for candidates for any elected positions ( there was outside money in the Raliegh, N.C. School Board ). There have been two more harmful, outrageous decisions since then.We need to come together to push for legal avenues through state & federal levels for recall of such decisions.legislations & officials that we deem harmful to the majarity.

The Govt lies about the Actual number of jobs being created. 193,000 = Workers who left the job market in July.
117,000 Jobs Created, means We Actually LOST 76,000 Jobs http://t.co/uQr807A
Dylan..your rant a few minutes ago is correct. Our govt is fraudulant as long as they all are completely BOUGHT. They have zero credibility. The American people are so on to them as being paid for. Get all the money out of congress and see who rises to the top…very few im sure.
Does our constitution say: For the lobbyists By the lobbyists, Of the lobbyists ? ? ?
Dylan, I am a representative of a think tank working diligently on a serendipitous project that will solve our economic problems. We need assistance. Our prior investor suddenly ended our funding. We have had opportunities for additional funding but the strings provided by the Shylocks have been too great. Anyone in the know regarding this revolutionary technology wants to control it or shelve it. Here is your opportunity to make a difference – to make the correction. Please contact me.
Richard Feynman "…there is an expanding frontier of ignorance…things must be learned only to be unlearned again or, more likely, to be corrected.”
Dylan, you are on point! Please stay on the case. A grass roots movement is itching to get started.
Will you spearhead it!
Count me in !
Dylan, Great rant! It seems that everywhere I turn people are realizing that we will not get things turned around by just electing the right people. Even if they have promise, their agenda is quickly co-opted by large amounts of campaign cash, which, of course is a bribe in any other field. I think that's what happened to Obama. The only conclusion one can reach is that it is now up to us.
Yesterday, Rachel Maddow played a clip of Barack Obama, the candidate, giving a fiery speech about what is wrong with the way America is working. It was inspiring, but it was very sad as well. Even Rachel's guest, said, "God, I miss that guy".
Candidate Obama had bright eyes, energy, enthusiasm, and determination. When I see him now, he is just an empty shell, whose eyes look completely dead. It appears that he has no will to fight over anything that is important. Money and power can destroy people so quickly.
I hope you keep talking about this.

Mr. Radigan thank you for your passion and if I may I would like to add to your comments of Tuesdays show. Thomas Jefferson was one who believed that a standing military, religion, and corporations should be treated with suspicion and one had to remain vigilant, and he did not trust them at all. Overall we have a system today that reminds me of the Globetrotters and the Washington Generals….Globetrotters (Republicans) and Generals (Democrats)…it is all a show that maintains the status quo. They use to say trickle down economics, where the crumbs barely got to the dining room table. Global Capitalism has been planning the extraction of wealth into the hands of a select few, with no regard for sovereignty or loyalty for a long time. This includes America.
Dylan, your show is the smartest one on cable — I wish it was on early evening prime time so everyone could benefit. Hardball is one twice in my area — 5pm and 7pm — you should have the 7pm slot.
Can we petition for this ?Gail
Spot on Dylan about special interests running our country and they do run both parties. It's always been there but lobby money now seems to be THE biggest assault on our form of government we have ever had.
I think we should make eliminating the most abusive lobbying practices our rallying cry to get people moving together. After all, most people understand the concept, don't like what lobbying does for the average American, and I think even people of different political views can unite behind such an effort. Especially with you outing and explaining who and how the abuses are being perpetrated.
I just wish our elected officials, mostly on the Democrat side, showed the same passion you have for doing what is RIGHT FOR AMERICA instead of the party… and that definitely goes to the middle-east hostage, all-or-nothing, HELLNO, NO-WAY-NO-HOW politics of today's GOP as well. Maybe you should start lighting the fire, I'll help!
I'm sure Dylan won't stop talking about it . The rant yesterday should be the mantra of every one who understands that of which he speaks. To bettter educate those who are shepharded along by the dialogue of the partisan group of their choosing is idle time and idle chatter.
Granted that rant got my attention like hasn't happened in quite some time . Such unvarnished truth that gave credence to no particular faction was beauty in its essence.
Yes I thought Obama was going to be the one who spoke truth to power . That transparency of which he spoke during the campaign never came to fruition .
Now people is the time to unite the divided states of america in a force against unmitigated greed .

According to this economist, it is expanding to new markets that gets companies to move to new countries and that the taxes are a secondary concern they're happy to take advantage of. Your trade ideas deal more with the taxes than the markets. So if Dalia Marin is more accurate, could focusing on taxes be enough to deter companies from moving overseas? I don't know… Maybe the only way we can keep them is through a combination of higher import taxes and higher American demand for goods.
Only a Hack would refer to economists to make a business point. You've Never had to make a payroll have you? Fkin Hack.
MI Gov Granholm brought 28 new battery manufacturing companies to MI by giving them tax BREAKS! So your point is BS. Money, like water, moves toward the path of least resistance.
All I know is that you are my new HERO, Dylan!! Finally a MAN with a set of BALLS that will speak for the American People!! Thank you!!!
INEQUALITY IS IN AMERICA (fourth from bottom on equality)
A few control our wealth==5% own 63%
25% take 67% of individual Income
70,000,000 workers take 13%
2% own 50% of our Financial Wealth
Same 2% take 25% of our income
Same 2% get huge Tax Cuts but have incomes of $4000 million-$3000 Million
Same 2% paid Tax Rate of 14%
120,00,00 0workers have not had a pay increase since 1979 above inflation. luckie duckies do not have to pay big taxes.
70,000,000 workers have their pensions invested in the wealth holders companies (Stocks and Bonds invested in the companies by the Pension Fund Managers), that's why the Govt HAD to bail out the banks.
Who gave them the tax cuts the last 2 yrs?
Dems and Obama Extended the Bush Tax Cuts at the end of 2010!
Hold the Dems Accountable for their Money Grubbing and Not Passing a 2010 Federal Budget.
Wake up….
DYLAN! When your audience comments begin speaking of personal actions aimed at forcing the removal of the influence of money from our politics, we can all begin to recognize possibility of recovery for the many rather than for few. WOULD YOU SPEAK UP TO GET OUR NEIGHBORS INTO THE GAME!
All recognize our problems, NONE recognize necessity of personal involvement.
What we need to stop the export of jobs and hopefully invigorate manufacturing in this country is a Dynamic Import Tariff System. Such a system would apply zero tariffs to countries where our balance of trade did not exceed 55/45%. As the trade imbalance increases so should the tariff. The calculation should be adjusted monthly based on a trailing 4 month average to reduce the possibility of gaming the system. Additional tariffs based upon differences in Environmental Protection regulations should also be considered. Free Trade equals Economic Treason against the USA.
