Rocky Anderson is running for President. He’s a former two-term mayor of Salt Lake City and is running under the Justice Party. You may not have heard of him yet, but that’s exactly why we had him on the show.

His primary message: end the corruption in Washington and a government sold to the highest bidder so America can have the debate it deserves on war, healthcare, education, renewable energy, and trade; sound familiar?

“Our message resonates with everybody across partisan boundries.  I don’t think there is anyone in the country that hasn’t absolutely had it with the corrupting influence of money.  We are truly living in a new Guilded Age, with the greatest level of income disparity since the 1920’s.”

His first action, if elected President, would be to call for a Constitutional amendment that would eliminate the influence of money in politics. Mr. Anderson explains that neither President Barack Obama, nor any of his Republican challengers, have taken this up as a primary focus of their campaigns because they are all benefactors of this corrupt system.  They are essentially working to maintain the system that has become beneficial for them.

Neither of the parties will assume the positions because they run counter to those on whom they are basically on retainer.  They are acting as though they are the hired guns of those with the money.  Every major public policy failure can be pointed to the corrupting influence of money.  When you follow the money, you begin to see how our elected officials are completely beholden to the people with the money.

Has the situation gotten completely out of control?  In an election year, the hope is that we are not missing an opportunity to remedy the situation.  If we vote for a Republican or a Democrat in this race, we are simply moving the players around and keeping the system in place.  We need a new paradigm, we need new people that are going to represent America’s interests.

Rocky Anderson may just be that person.  Check out www.voterocky.org to find out more about his candidacy.  You can do it, Rock.
