Guests and Topics for Presidents Day! February 20, 2012

Happy Presidents Day to everyone — whether you’re working or not, we hope you’re having a good one (or at least sneaking out of the office an hour or two early.)  Here’s what’s coming up on the show today:

As you know, we’re kicking off another leg of our 30 Million Jobs tour — this week, we’re hitting the University of Kentucky on Wednesday, Ohio State on Thursday and the University of Chicago on Friday!  For a preview, Rep. John Yarmuth of the great state of Kentucky will be joining us.  We’ll be talking about creating jobs and revitalizing Kentucky’s manufactuing industry, including big hiring at two of the area’s biggest employers, Ford and  GE.  We’ll also touch on Metro College, which is a collaboration among Jefferson Community and Technical College, the University of Louisville, and UPS (Louisville’s top employer) that provides eligible Kentucky residents who work at UPS access to tuition-free post-secondary education and job opportunities.

Our Monday Mega-Panel is a good one — we’ll be joined by Imogen Lloyd Webber, Tim Carney + Chrystia Freeland for some of the latest out of the Middle East, including the a UN delegation arriving in Iran for talks, a blast at a Yemen polling station ahead of their Presidential vote, the question on helping Syrian rebels (via John McCain and Lindsey Graham).

We’ll also talk about this provocative opinion piece via Al Jazeera and Sarmila Bose out of University of Oxford: “What if the ‘people’ don’t want democracy?

Our Specialist today: he comes from the green energy sector and has never run for office.  He’s disgusted with a rigged system and bought Congress and has filed to run as a Democrat for the Nevada senate seat vacated by John Ensign.  Sound good? Meet Barry Elsworth, who you can follow @BarryforNevada.

We’re also having on Chip Conley, Author of, “Emotional Equations:  Simple Truths for Creating Happiness & Success.“  You can follow him on Twitter @ChipConley – he also has a few excellent blog posts over at http://www.emotionalequations.com on work/life issues.

Last but definitely not least, Keli Goff will be handling today’s Daily Rant.
