Here’s what we’re working on today…
Independents & the Race to the White House: With the Republican race beginning to end with tomorrow’s “do or die” Wisconsin primary, we ask one question: Are Republicans and Democrats all there is? When asked about party affiliation, 40% of voters identify as independents — that’s a record high, up by 400,000 since 2008. One more amazing statistic: according to the Reason Foundation, 80% of voters would consider an alternative, non-GOP/Democratic Presidential candidate. And with groups like No Labels and Americans Elect, are we witnessing the birth of a more organized independent movement? Former Governor of New Mexico and Presidential candidate Gov. Gary Johnson (@govgaryjohnson) and Linda Killian (@lindajkillian) of The Wilson Center and author of The Swing Vote: The Untapped Power of Independents, will be here to talk about it.
