Today, May 1st is International Workers Day, with May Day protests set to happen around the world, from the city of Paris to the streets of New York.

Guitarist and activist Tom Morello (@tmorello) is enlisting the help of hundreds, perhaps thousands, of musicians in Bryant Park today to take part in Occupy Guitarmy.  It’s music meets protest meets kicking off a campaign to protest corruption in government and the financial system.

We had the chance to talk to Tom Morello about Occupy Guitarmy, and the his thoughts on the role of music in protests.

If you want to join in the event, it kicks off today at Noon in New York City’s Bryant Park, with a 4PM event in Union Square, and a 5:30P march to Wall Street.  For more information and the full schedule of events, visit their website here.
