U.S. Electoral System Deeply Flawed | The Real Ratigan

 

“How can an electoral system be considered pure when the people that nominate the choices for whom we vote is only a few hundred people out of 300 million? Yeah, sure 3 million people may be able to vote or at least those over 18 but who are they voting for and who decides who they get to vote for? About 200 people determine who the nominated candidates are in the first place across the entire presidential field at least in terms of who finances them. It’s impossible to consider something a democracy when the choice for who you choose from is determined by less than 1 one hundredth of 1% of the entire population. Just because it feels good to vote doesn’t mean you’re in a democracy if someone else controls the choices that you get to vote on.”
